What else?

So we've posted pictures of our beautiful baby boy and we have given our son a name so what's next?

I've been kind of worried about what I'm going to be able to post on our blog. It will be a while before we bring Oliver home. This next process is going to be pretty slow and there isn't going to be a lot of adoption news to post.

So I need to find some other things to post about. There are always stories about our cats, Alli, Sadie, and Artemis. Yes. We have three cats and we know three cats. I love to cook so I think I'll start posting some recipes. We have a large family. I have one brother, Anthony has six siblings, and we have 17 nieces and nephews. We have an amazing group of friends who are really our family too. We are so lucky to have them. We could have a separate blog about their kids who have completely stolen our hearts.

A week ago Anthony did something pretty cool. He interviewed John McCain. Anthony is the Editor of Field & Stream magazine. He's working on setting up an interview with the Democratic nominee too. This blog is so not going to be political. But I mean Anthony talked to Senator John McCain. He could be the next President. It is so crazy.

They had professional pictures taken for the magazine, but our friend Amanda took some pictures too. My contribution was buying his tie.

I can't figure out how to have the pictures at the bottom of the post. Oh well.

Friday cutoff

Our beautiful baby boy's name is Oliver Joseph.

We were pretty sure of his name for a while and honestly I have been telling some people for a couple of months, but Anthony wanted to think about it a little longer. We took out a lot of baby name books from the library. One that I recommend is The Baby Name Wizard.

We named him Oliver because we like it and Joseph after Anthony's Dad. I hope everyone likes it and most of all I hope Oliver likes it.

P.S.

Does anyone know how I remove the little screwdrivers from the blog?

Thanks.

New pictures

Thanks for stopping by

We are really touched that so many people looked at our blog and posted comments. It was so sweet of everyone. We received four more pictures yesterday from Beth's visit to the orphanage. He is still very chubby. In one of them he rolled over and it seems like he is pushing himself up. I was talking to my best friend Kim,who's daughter Eloise just turned 2, and I asked her if she remembered what Ellie was doing at 5 months. She wasn't entirely sure, but she reminded me that I have a bunch of parenting books that I've never looked at and they could tell me. A bunch of people have been so generous and given/loaned us all kinds of things. Most things we have packed up because...well just because. Anyway, it hit me that we have moved forward and it is time for me to start looking at some of that stuff. It just made me smile today. So did Anh's picture.

Welcome to our blog

We are thrilled to announce that last week we found out who our son is. He was born December 6, 2007 and he is at the Ba Vi orphanage in Hanoi. He is chubby and cute. We can't wait to pinch those cheeks. We are working on his new name, but his Vietnamese name is Anh Quang Nguyen. We are excited to be moving on to the next phase of our adoption. It has been a long process, but we already feel like it was worth it. It will be somewhere between 4 and 6 months until we can bring him home. We have been waiting to do everything, but now we feel like it is time to start blogging about this crazy adventure.
